Certified Pick up: deadline on January 15

The terminals on the Antwerp port platform are getting ready to use Certified Pick up, the container delivery process which is ID-based rather than using PINs. In the context of a digitally secure port, implementing Certified Pick up is one of the priorities of Port of Antwerp-Bruges. In recent months, various optimisations have been made to further align the process with the needs of users.

No more pin codes

Certified Pick up is entering the next phase. Bear in mind that from 15 January, PIN codes will no longer be used for collecting containers in Antwerp. After that date, it will only be possible to collect a container via the Certified Pick up platform.

We are therefore inviting everyone to use Certified Pick up as much as possible now already. That way, everyone will be ready to make a smooth transition on 15 January.

Terminals that are already certain to make the switch then are DP World (K1700), MPET, PSA 869 and PSA 913. The terminals behind the locks will go live shortly thereafter.

Check the lights in Certified Pick up

Certified Pick up offers complete transparency as regards the status of an import container. You can see this status via the lights in the platform. It is important to proactively follow these up. Before collecting a container at the terminal, check that the general light is green.

With Certified Pick up, the handling of import containers is safer and more efficient.

Follow a training course

To make the roll-out of Certified Pick up easier, we organised training sessions for the release parties and transport operators. For the latter category, separate sessions were organised for truck operators and rail and barge operators. As such, we have already trained 1,070 people on how to work efficiently with Certified Pick up.

Download the presentations, or view full recordings of these training courses on the website.

The training courses are clearly effective. We subsequently saw an increase in registrations on the platform, mainly by international players. Today, we already count more than 2,500 users.
