As in previous years, we aim to communicate timely and transparently about the financial changes that will take effect on January 1, 2025.

In consultation with the port community, the Board of Directors of Port of Antwerp-Bruges decided to apply the Consumer Price Index (CPI) again this year. The CPI is 2.86%.

 

Going forward, a new form of dialogue between the port community and Port of Antwerp-Bruges is being developed to further discuss this issue.

 

Below are the main financial changes effective January 1, 2025.

Towing task in the port.

Tariff adjustments

We will follow the Consumer Price Index CPI for the month of August 2024 (2.86%) and apply it to various tariff regulations and tariffs and fees for both platforms. This translates in an increase of 2.86% starting January 1, 2025 for:

  • Tariff regulations for sea-going vessels,
  •  Tariff regulations for inland shipping (Antwerp),
  • Tariff regulations for the port area Brugge-Zeebrugge,
  • Tariff regulations for the 800-ton floating crane ‘Brabo’ (Antwerp),
  • Tariff regulations for the usage of quays and storehouses in the port area (Antwerp),
  • Tariff regulations for catering in the port area (Antwerp),
  • Tariff regulations for the usage of terrains in the port area (Antwerp),
  • Tariff regulations for floating dry docks.

 

The tariffs for towage in the Antwerp docks as mentioned in the Tariff regulation will increase by 2.57%. The tariffs for towage at the Zeebrugge platform will increase by 3.11%.


The CPI will not be factored into the following tariff regulations:

  • Maritime shipping waste regulation (Antwerp and Zeebrugge),
  • Tariff regulations for events, photography, and filming in seaport area of Antwerp,
  • Tariff regulations for waterbound oil spills.

Cruises

Cruise rates at Zeebrugge will also follow the August 2024 CPI of 2.86%, along with some additional adjustments starting January 1, 2025:

  • Port shuttle: increase of the 6-hour rate from €600 to €720 and the 12-hour rate from €1,320 to €1,440;
  • Gangways/cranes: increase in prices for ordering an additional gangway or for ships staying over 12 hours to an hourly rate of €165 (weekday), €240 (Saturday), and €340 (Sunday).

Maritime shipping

The following changes will be applied to the Tariff regulations for sea-going vessels for the Antwerp port area regarding waste:

 

Increase in waste contribution:

  • Fixed contribution
    • for ships up to 3,000 GT: increase from €180 to €200
    • for ships over 3,001 GT: increase from €250 to €270
  • The variable contribution increases from €0.022 to €0.023/GT
  • The maximum waste contribution increases from €1,200 to €1,250

Introduction of a 10% discount on the waste contribution if an ISO14001 certificate is presented.

 

The following changes will be applied to the tariff regulations for sea-going vessels for the Bruges-Zeebrugge port area:

  • introduction of a 10% discount on the waste contribution in case an ISO14001 certificate is presented,
  • increase of the intervention in the Bruges-Zeebrugge port area for disposal of Annex I waste from €20/m³ to €25/m³.

 

The following changes will be applied to the tariff regulation for sea-going vessels in the Antwerp port area:

  • the deposit fee will be charged in the same manner as for the Zeebrugge platform, i.e., a doubling (+100%) of the invoice tonnage fee,
  • the conditions for revoking a bulk line will be changed so that a bulk line will be revoked if the threshold of 100,000 tons for dry bulk or 300,000 tons for liquid bulk is not met over a one-year period.

Inland shipping

The following changes apply to inland shipping:

  • Introduction of a quarterly subscription for commercial vessels in the Antwerp port area, with a rate equal to 18 times the base rate;
  • Introduction of a quarterly subscription for estuary vessels in the Zeebrugge port area, with a rate equal to 18 times the base rate;
  • Adjustments to the calculation method of the surcharge for official reporting;
  • Elimination of the daily rate for non-commercial recreational boating;
  • Non-indexing of tariffs for shore power, drinking water, and paid other ship operational waste rates, with these being charged based on actual consumption and processing costs.

Concessions

Concession fees will also follow the August 2024 CPI of 2.86%:

  • Concession fees in concession agreements for the Bruges-Zeebrugge port area;
  • Rates of a phasing-out nature, which are no longer included in the above regulations but still apply to specific (concession) agreements;
  • Fees for quay and storehouses usage under depot regime;
  • Commercially varied fees linked to base fees;
  • All other fees, unless other indexing mechanisms are specified in the relevant (concession) agreement.

Mooring & unmooring and piloting behind the locks

The rates of the Brabo Group will also increase by 2,86%.

Events

The rates will follow the August 2024 CPI of 2.86%:

  • Room rental rates will be rounded down to the nearest ten,
  • Rates apply only to commercial events, photo- and/or film shoots.
