The accessibility of Port of Antwerp-Bruges is important for the companies, customers and people who work there. In various parts of the port area we are working to improve the infrastructure for vehicle and cycle traffic. This causes temporary inconvenience from time to time. View the overview of all road works.
Roadworks in Antwerp
In collaboration with Lantis and the Roads and Traffic Agency, we provide an overview of the construction sites that have the most impact on road traffic in and around the Antwerp port area. In this regard, we endeavour to keep the port as accessible as possible for all users, also during the works on the Oosterweel link.

N101 Scheldelaan: Replacement of the Boudewijn bridge
Project
The Boudewijn bridge will be replaced by a new bridge. Disruption is expected until end of 2025.
Disruption
If the Meestoof bridge is raised, freight traffic (+3.5t) has to wait; other traffic can drive over the lock gate.
N101 Various works near Zandvliet and Berendrecht Lock
The next few years many works are planned on and around the Zandvliet-Berendrecht lock complex, including maintenance work on the road surface, on bridges, on the Berendrecht lock, works for safer cycling infrastructure, the construction of a new ACC between the locks, the renovation of the Europa terminal, a high-voltage power line along Scheldelaan, works on the public lighting on Scheldelaan,...

Works: Maintenance on Zandvliet Bridge
Period: 5 – 25 May
Hindrance:
Traffic up to 3.5 tonnes can always cross the locks, either via Berendrecht bridge or the lock door.
Traffic over 3.5 tonnes is strongly advised to stay away from the lock complex to avoid long waiting times. Recommended route:
- for destinations North of the lock complex (incl. Certiweight): A12 exit 11 (Zandvliet)
- for destinations South of the lock complex: R2 exit 12 (Lillo)
Attention:
Sunday evening, May 11, at 8 p.m., AWV will start with replacing the lighting in the Tijsmans Tunnel towards Noorderlaan (N101 towards N180). They will work every evening from Sunday to Thursday, from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. each time.
During these nights, traffic departing from the Scheldelaan (N101) between Lillo and the lock complex in the direction of Noorderlaan (N180)/A12 will have to drive via the lock complex, with possible waiting times for freight traffic until May 23 (end of Zandvliet Bridge works).
During the shift change (9:30-10:30 p.m.), priority will be given to road traffic as much as possible.
Scheldelaan (N101) high-voltage cables
Project: Elia is laying two underground high-voltage cables north of Lillo.
Works run from February-May 2025.

Bellestraat
Project: Port of Antwerp-Bruges builds bike path in Bellestraat.
Period: 10 March - 9 June.
Hindrance: One-way traffic in Bellestraat from north to south during the works. Entering Bellestraat is only possible from Noorderlaan (N180), exiting only along Ordamstraat.
Periodic maintenance tunnels
Project
For Liefkenshoek Tunnel the dates of maintenance works are published on the Liefkenshoek Tunnel website.
For other tunnels the dates can be found on the website of Vlaams Verkeerscentrum.
Lillo bridge not available
Lillo bridge is not available for trains, road transport and cyclists.
Cyclists can use the “bike bus” to cross the Kanaaldok.

Roadworks in Zeebrugge
Herdersbrug (N348)
Project: The Flemish Maritime Access Agency (AMT) carries out maintenance works on the Herders Bridge (Herdersbrug)
Period: from 10 March till 27 April
Hindrance: The Herders Bridge is closed to all road traffic.
Through traffic follows a diversion via the A11, local traffic drives via Lodewijk Coiseaukaai and Pathoekeweg.
Visart Bridge closed (N34)
Project: repairs
Period: 17 - 27 April
Hindrance: The bridge is closed to all traffic except cyclists and pedestrians. Detour via the E34b (Isabellalaan
Koffieweg
Project: road repairs
Period: 31 March - 20 April
Hindrance: In the “horizontal part” of Koffieweg (near the firm NDQ) there is one-way traffic towards Margaretha Van Oostenrijkstraat.
Traffic wanting to reach Koffieweg from Margaretha Van Oostenrijkstraat has to detour via Havenrandweg-Zuid (N348).
